Grace Mason-California Trip

Over the past four days, I have learned about the importance of small business and how beautiful God’s creation is. Pictures of California does not do it any justice.

The first day, we had a direct flight from Cincinnati to San Jose, California. It was a 5 hour flight so we left at 8:15 am (east coast time) Thursday morning and we landed at 10 am (west coast time). Once we landed we started driving north to go to San Francisco. On our way up we were looking for somewhere to eat and we ended up deciding to go to In-N-Out burger. When we first got there I really didn’t think it would be that good and that it was all basically over talked by famous people. I was shocked because it was actually really good to have been fast food. Who knew?

After that we kept driving until we made it to our hotel. Once we got to the hotel we put all our bags into the room then we had to change into for comfortable shoes. We got back into the car so we could go drive to Pier 39. On the way there we started counting how many Tesla cars there was. This is because down in Teays Valley we have basically only seen like 2. When we got to the pier we started looking for the place where you could see the sea lions. When we got down to the viewing area you could see over 100 sea lions all stacked up on each other. If you look out you could see where Alcatraz was. It was so much bigger than what I had seen in pictures. We then left the viewing area so we could look around the pier to see if we wanted to get anything. Our one goal while we were at the pier was to just get some kind of chocolate. So we found a store that was called “Chocolate Heaven” it was so good. They had different chocolate that were imported from all over the world.

We then left so we could go to the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge was absolutely terrifying. After we did all the stuff at the bridge, we went to the beach. It was very cold. We then went back to our hotel. The next morning we woke up at breakfast then left so we could to Google. When we got to Google we went to the gift shop. While walking into the gift shop we saw these different little human size google dessert figures.

After, we left and we went to Intuit where we met Brad Smith. We sat down with him and we all got to ask him a question about his business and how he came about to it. After we finished our questions he took us to another building so we could see this building that all the workers designed and where they had put small businesses. After that we went to ShotSpotter where we had a conversation with workers from there. We also got to see how everything works with their product. It was really cool to see all the different systems.

After ShotSpotter drove to our hotel. The next morning we woke up and ate breakfast then left so we could head to Yosemite. The drive had very curvy roads. When we got to Yosemite we first went to the gift shop so we could see what we wanted to get for later. When we got on the hike we started and were waiting to see how the trail was before we decided what way we were going to travel down. We got to these stairs so we could get up to the top of Vernal Falls. The way up there was so pretty. The way back down was really cool and weird at the same time because their was so many switchbacks. After that we drove back to our hotel then went to sleep. The last morning we left and then we drove to San Jose so we could get on our flight to drive back to Ohio.
