2016 Donations and Impact Report

In today’s environment, we believe people who support nonprofits want us to efficiently use our resources to provide measurable impact.  Transparency is critical in this environment, and we want to help people evaluate our progress. I am fairly certain that we are one of only a handful of nonprofits our size that posts its check register online, but we think that’s the right thing to do.  Using the economic impact formula developed by Team Rubicon, we have calculated that, for every $1.00 we have received, we’ve created $2.63 worth of impactful labor for the cause.  Considering our size, I’m happy with that.  As our research efforts kick-off and grow, I hope to increase that ratio event more.

One administrative note:  Like every other business entity, nonprofits have to submit a tax return to the IRS each year.  Because StandWatch’s revenue did not exceed $50,000 in 2016, we are only required to file the abbreviated 990N, which does not provide the details of the full 990.  That said, much of the information that’s included on the full 990 is available on this website.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at zac@standwatch.org.

Zac Northup is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of StandWatch.org. Zac served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard between 1992 and 2000, leaving the service as a captain. In 1996, he started his own publishing and consulting firm where he interviewed high-profile individuals including members of the joint chiefs of staff, service secretaries, elected officials, and soldiers in Bosnia, Honduras, and other locations. As a consultant, he worked for Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, 3M, and dozens of small firms that ranged from start-ups to multimillion dollar firms. He has proven experience taking a concept and growing it into a thriving business.
